Hello featured Artists and Patrons,
This is our first newsletter that we have created to keep you informed. The board of the ART Works For Humanity plein air event and live art auction is well on its way to being one of Maine’s best and largest of its kind in the Fall. Unfortunately two of our artists have withdrawn due to over scheduling and so we are now down to 25 artists, which the board has decided to leave as is for this year.
All of the artists participating are now fully registered, and we are getting very excited as we continue to get closer to the event. We are adding to our growing sponsor list every day. In the weeks to come we will be compiling the information from the registrations and making posters that indicates what locations artists might be en plein air painting and a sponsorship poster. We will have an event table for stamping artist substrates on each day of the festival and to provide the public and artists with information every day of the plein air event.
A few weeks ago we have asked WLBZ channel 2 if they would like to cover our story on “207” and they were very interested in filming the plein air event from the breaking ground event right up th the auction with segments in-between. We have set the “Breaking Ground” event date and time for Aug. 30th at 4 pm and we hope as many as can be there will come. We are expecting WLBZ channel 2 “207” and possibly Channel 5 will be there plus some reporters for newpapers and magazines. We would like to let artists and sponsors know so that you can be there for support and comment. We will all get a chance to meet the family of a single mother of 4 children who were chosen in Prospect, Maine. The address is 17 Moody Road, Prospect, Maine 04981. The original goal was to Start and finish the housing project at about the same time as the auction occurs on October 1st, 2023.We have been held up due to acquiring permits that may delay the completion of the house to happen within a close timeline of the auction, but we are still hopeful.
We have made up posters and cards that we hope to distribute and get the word out. Since these have been printed we have added “ART AUCTION” in the title and the price of the tickets which is $50.00 per person. The poster above is the most updated. Please feel free to copy, post and share for advertising. The Rack Cards below represent the front and back. If you’d like to help us in your area to distribute these posters and rack cards, please stop by the Mailloux & Garden, PA office, 151 High Street, in Belfast, Maine. These rack cards will also be available when you get your substrates stamped at the beginning of the the weekend to handout to people you meet. In the meantime, Please spread the word about the plein Air Event and the Live Auction in your social media. If you haven’t checked out our website recently, we have added a new category in the title bar called “Videos”. There you will find Deena Ball’s video sharing her plein air art process and her support for the Arts For Humanity 2023 event. If you would like to make a video, we would love it. Please send it to [email protected] and we will post yours as well. Also Tiana our media specialist has been posting on instagram and Facebook two artist profiles per week. Please like and share these as you see them to help us get the word out in that way too.
From this point on we will be communicating with you through this our website/ newsletter and we intend to keep you all posted about our most current news. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, August 29th, the day before the ground Breaking event. Please let us know about any concerns you may have.
Hope to see you in Prospect!
Michael E. Vermette
